First Build, Yes I Purchased them

Telepopmusik

Hello, Everyone I'm currently new to the Forums, I was recommended to post here on a question I had in regards to compatible hardware with the new build parts I just purchased. I've come down to  two problems, one that has been answered all ready, The other problem Figuring out WHICH power supply to use, *Omg there are so many with different pins*

This Parts have been purchased all ready, so If there not compatible I still have time to CANCEL the order.

Motherboard -

1 x ASUS PRIME Z270-A LGA 1151 Intel Z270 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Motherboards - Intel

Video Card -

EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW GAMING ACX 3.0, 08G-P4-6276-KR, 8GB GDDR5, RGB LED, 10CM FAN, 10 Power Phases

Power Supply - NOTE, (I have no idea if this is the right one too Choose for this Build)

CORSAIR CX Series CX650 650W ATX12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Processor - *I do want to experience that overcloacking everyone talks about*

 Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 4.2 GHz LGA 1151 91W BX80677I77700K Desktop Processor

The Memory  - or RAM from last post I was corrected on

 G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model ...

Hard Drive - ( where I'm going to save most files, and games)

 WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX - OEM

and THIS THING! which I was recommended to use if I was going to actually overclock the Processor, and something about the Processor that I have does not have a FAN in it.

CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 120mm Quiet Edition Liquid CPU Cooler - Intel Only (CW-9060006-WW)

Last but not least - This storage device Samsung 960 EVO Series - 250GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V6E250BW)

my previous question was if I was able to run the operating system on it and if it was compatible with my motherboard.

Now It all comes down too... Are all this parts Compatible with each other, and THE power supply that's where I'm scratching my head at the moment.

if you want the best OC, you have to delid, Intel screwed up using low quality the TIM.

Delidding isn't just a easy thing to do for someone rather newer to PCs, but I agree intel f'd up to TIM.

Yeah I have no idea what that means... I can do some research on  it. But if overclocking is going to becoming a Issue, I rather not do that just yet... I can just leave the processor at be for now, um Now it all comes down to are they all compatible.

You're also going to want to register your 1070, and get the thermal pad mod if they ask you to after you register. I had the same issue with an old EVGA 1070. If you don't already know, EVGA didn't think they needed heat pads for the VRM / and power phases. This ended up with things overheating and possibly  catching on fire in some cases.

Check out JayzTwoCents' YouTube channel. He went into why it was important, and most importantly, how to put the pads on.

Isn't the 1070 now the same price as a 1080.

nah, the 1070s have dropped down low end at ~430, 1080s are at ~515 low end, still more sense to get a 1080 if you got the budget but also not the same price...

first things first run the system at normal settings for a week or two to make sure everything is working properly, after that start trying to overclock it.

yes, it's garbage for the price and easily beat by most air coolers

Thank you for your input Cyracus, lol,  I thought I did enough research on the build. that modullar for the power supply... man I should of dig deeper that's actually VERY handy. for clean cable management.

yes it is fine even for oc but air coolers (of same price range) runs quieter and performs similarly

Less chance of an aircooler failing than a watercooler.

plus with an air cooler, you don't have to stress if there's some leak with a water cooler.

I think I could use mayo for replacement TIM and it would be better

at least you got the grey label cx650, the green label ones were bad, and semi modular tends to be ok too since you need a few cables anyway

it should be, you probably wouldn't need to delid and replace it unless intel really screwed it up...they have with some but use it and see how warm it gets stock. Personally I dropped 4ºC delidding and applying liquid metal, if I knew it would be such a small change I wouldn't have done it, but I got sucked in with the charts like...

anyway, that cooler should work for stock and maybe low OCs, just remember it's not going to reach operating temp until 30min to an hour have passed under load so monitor it with stress tests for that time

AIOs don't really leak. I would still go with a nice noctua with at least 2 fans tho
