Project Aura

AliceSML79

Project Aura:

I am building the system to encode high-quality 4K video, stream online, and gaming. Possibly all at the same time. This is the first computer a built in 10 years. I want it to be a quality PC that will last me a good long time. I am an AMD in enthusiast, so that is why I’m choosing Threadripper and Vega in CrossFire for my main components. I also want to PCIe lanes available with Threadripper. When I do game I want to play and I candy mold with all the settings turned on and to their max. I do know this PC will take me a long time to build. Because it is using prime components. So does this seam like a good system Build for my Needs?

no, but AIOs for Threadripper are pretty bad so far. Custom water cool or get some future made for Threadripper AIO.

Get Vega 64 instead of FE. Get 16GB RAM. I'd get a cheaper mobo. Swap the 850 PRO for an 850 EVO or MX300. I'd also change the cooler.

I would go for Vega 64 or just go for a 1080 ti instead (seriously, 1080 ti is 25-35% faster than Vega 64). Also I would get higher frequency ram.

Except they're just a waste of money. No benefit with Vega FE over Vega 64. 850 PRO isn't worth the premium over the 850 EVO, regardless of whether or not you're an enthusiast. There's no point in buying stuff you're not going to use, 32GB RAM is plenty.

With the money saved, you get a 1080Ti with SLI support. Hell, you could even grab a 2nd 1080Ti right now and still be cheaper than the system you were originally looking at. 32GB RAM is more than enough, but you still have room to add more. Same case, but with a tempered glass window. 8TB HDD because it's still a shit ton of space, and is better value, but if you really want 10TB, I'd get this HDD;

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/V7RFf7/seagate-ironwolf-10tb-35-7200rpm-internal-hard-drive-st10000vn0004

You could even get the 10TB HDD, and do a custom loop for the system and still stay below the $4800 of that Vega FE system you're considering.

I was looking at 4K rendering in background so I thought 64gb would help.

As for Vega few I was looking at it due to it being simaler to a titan xp. It’s a blend of a pro and gaming card from what I can figure. Pro features for content creation and gaming features for play time. I had considered Vega 64 and a FirePro. This kinda combination of the two.

since evo just as good as pro ssd, I will change that to save some cash for my steam/games drive. NVMe is for os and programs. 10tb is purely media storage for content as storage.

rog zenith was picked because it still has the ROG_EXT header and some to release strix x399 won’t. I have a rog front base I’d like to use. If I don’t use front base I’d probably go for asus strix or prime a boards.

without getting to personal me and nvidia have had issues since my brothers death. Know not there fault but I haven’t naught a nvidia card since my 280 sli. Nvidia sent my brother to a Vegas convention and when he came back he died from flu complications 2-3 weeks later. Yes I know it’s not nvida’s fault, can’t explain it. Just every time I look at nvidia products I start balling.

as for aio that is the only 360 rad that is threadriper compatible last I checked AMD website. But that changes regularly too. Custom water cooling is way over my head and just don’t trust myself to install or even maintain a custom loop.

Since I want rgb, should I go with a tempered glass case like the Corsair 570X and there led system with a random cheaper mobo??

Since you are going with an Aura Sync compatible motherboard, stick with a compatible case, https://www.asus.com/campaign/aura/us/Sync.html. Phanteks has a number of tempered glass cases that are Aura Sync compatible.

Finally did a pc part picker: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WkzdRG

The memory kit is not on the motherboard's memory QVL.

Did you consider the Deepcool RGB cpu cooler, Deepcool CAPTAIN 240EX RGB?

You probably need a larger psu. Based on pcpartpicker's estimate at least 1200W, but if you are going to be pushing the system mabe a little more.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Sorry, I wasn't thinking too well when I asked the question.
