Laptop cpu fan always running full speed

Go to solution Solved by emosun,

well all i can say is make sure the all the fans wire are actually making contact and make sure the heatsink is attached and has good thermal paste. maybe the program you're reading the cpu temp with might be inaccurate?

Hi,
I had a laptop who's overheating then I decided to clean it. I removed alot of dust in the heatsink. Now, the laptop (toshiba Qosmio x770) is running between 40 and 50 celsius down from 65-70.

However, since I unpluged the cpu's fan to clean it, the fan is always running at full speed, even if the cpu temperature is at 40 celsius.

Has anyone already had this issue ?

if the fan was 3 pin , and the speed sensor pin isn't connected , it might be defaulting to full speed

does the cpu fan have a speed sensor in the bios?

I don't see any fan rpm on the bios or with speed fan.

The fan has 4 pins.
