Awesome.  Any software you recommend?

A linux distro that supports KVM, and the tools that it needs to set up a KVM. You're not going to use something like VMWare or VirtualBox.

Use Ubuntu's forums, and start asking/looking for topics about Ubuntu KVM.

Hi, I'm considering setting up a linux distro as my main OS but I like muh games and I like muh CAD software so its not feasible to be my only OS.

I'm considering either a VM with windows or linux or a sort of "2 systems one CPU" setup with a cheap single slot card and 2c/4t of my 1700 for linux on my spare 16x slot.

The second option would be running on my secondary screen and I would use synergy to connect the two.  What do you think?

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

I'd go KVM in Linux. Give Linux a minimum of 2c/4t (though I'd go 4c/8t for each OS if a desktop), and give Linux a cheap GPU (RX 460, GTX 700, etc.) that has solid drivers available to it.

Set up SAMBA shares on one machine, and use that as a shared libraries system between both operating systems.

Then use a KVM switch to switch between the virtualized machines you want to use, if you only want to use 1 KB+M and 1 monitor

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Kernal Virtual Machine. It's when the host is operating at the kernal level, and the guest OS has near metal performance.

A KVM switch is a piece of hardware that lets two machines (typically physical machines) share USB ports and a display, and switches the input/output on that piece of hardware.

Yes, but you'll be going to a good tech forum.
