Just because he has not sent it in one day does not mean you where scammed. I've bought stuff on ebay and it didn't ship out for 3 days.

Well, he must SOMEWHAT care about money... Or he'd have budgeted $500 for the second purchase. :P

Go to your bank and request a recall on the funds and just hope the money is still in their account. If not the recall will be unsuccessful and you'll have to deal with the police at that point

hit up your bank and ask them to redeposit the money. you have proof that you didn;t recieve the promised goods, so they should just send the money back.

also, for any future secondhand purchases please use Tweakers.net instead. it's much more safer to use for the Dutch/Belgium side of this globe.

Don't have much to say any more either ways, this is one odd situation, contacting the bank should be the first step as some point out and well one expensive lesson was learned if any thing.

So you were scammed off eBay then since the transaction had nothing to do with eBay at all.

Still sucks though - I'd check with your bank, but there's probably nothing they can do at this point.

Haha, why would you ever think that's a good idea?

Seeing someone on a webcam doesn't make the transaction any more legit.

eBay won't help you, you violated their ToS. If anything they'd close your account.

Not really. I could have bought a GTX 1070 for $225 last week. Some people have bills that need to be paid more than they need a piece of computer hardware.

I don't think they'd be allowed to do that, at least not immediately, and not without a police report.

Doesn't matter. He contacted the seller and asked to do the transaction outside of eBay.

This both absolves eBay from any onus, and actually violates their ToS.

I believe he asked to see the card live on a vid chat in this case through WhatsApp.
Using a local selling site here it is not uncommon for people to ask for pictures or video materials of a product here.
The advertisement was placed on e-bay with the intent to scam in this case our friend here.

Fairly normal to contact the seller and ask for proof of product, i have to ask what is your point?
On the side how would you transfer funds through e-bay it would, in the end, require PayPal or a bank account number so it would be outside e-bay.

My point is that they conducted it outside of eBay, therefore eBay has nothing to do with it.

If he went through eBay, then he'd be covered 100%. The transaction would also take place through eBay.

Have you never used it?

Nope m8 I never used ebay international shipping is a burden, tax tends to screw you over in every possible way.
But from my initial post that is how you would proceed from there to get your money back.

No, first of all you but on eBay, that is, you close the deal on eBay. eBay regisyers the transaction, de-lists the item and, if you use PayPal, immediately marks it as paid (since PayPal ~ eBay). If you choose a bank transfer, eBay provides the account details, then you mark it as paid. Then you make a transfer with purpose "eBay item nr. xyz",and you can show that together with eBay's own records on the sale of item xyz.

In the PayPal case, you automatically have buyer protection, so you're covered. And in the transfer case, while not covered as in the PayPal case, you have a very good case with properly identified transfer and eBay's record of the relevant transaction (in the event you actually need to go through legal route instead of just eBay's system).
