So I guess we finally find out if Coffeelake will fit into existing SKT1151 boards or not (yeah I know about the deleted Asrock tweet but that's still not official and has been deleted too). I'm not gonna hold my breath though, I want CL to fit in Z170 & Z270 but I seriously doubt it will.

Are you guys excited for the reveal? Will LTT be in attendance?

yes, if it's a 6c/12t CPU with better IPC than a 7700k for the same price, i would love to see 6c/12t go mainstream.

Same, I mean with Ryzen it pretty much already has and now Intel have to respond.

Competition feels great.

Its looking very unlikely but nothing official or confirmed by Intel as of yet so there is a very small hope left.

They won't be Z170/Z270 compatible. Intel had to re arrange the pins to support the additional cores and DDR4-2666. ;)

Well, there's a thread about it ^^

What I really wonder about is whether Coffee Lake will have the same ring bus design or the new mesh architecture that's inside of Skylake-X chips. The mesh architecture is significantly worse for gaming seeing as the 7820X is slower in games than the 6800K despite having higher IPC and clock speeds.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

Intel still has the IPC crown with their unbeatable 7700K. I wonder how much more they'll crush Ryzen with the 8 series.

Ryzen is all bout that sweet value not best performance

Serious or sarcastic?

Last time I checked 7 series and Ryzen traded blows depending on the workload, for gaming loads Intel is best but for streaming & production Ryzen is significantly ahead.

Err serious? If you knew anything about IPC you'd know the 7700K is unbeatable as of now. No CPU can compete with amount of instructions the 7700K can crunch in a single thread. Surely your time invested in your research has told you that.

You're acting as though IPC is the only metric which matters, if that were true then the 7700K would be the best performing CPU across every possible scenario and it just isn't.

My uncle has a motorbike, its nothing special really, its a Honda 250 and its engine can rev into the 11,000 to 12,000 rpm range, does that make it faster than a car which can only rev into the 8,000 to 9,000 rpm range?

I think that this was probably the first post on Intel's 8/21 event.  It came out around the time of the TR unboxing and reviews...
