I've now owned the Strix OC for 2 days and am happy with it. My choice was narrowed down to that and the EVGA FTW, but a video by Gamers Nexus gave the nod to the Strix for cooling so I went with that.

I have owned Zotac cards in the past, not high end ones, and my reason for doing so was mainly price. Something I don't feel like doing on the high end...

Main system: i9-7980XE, Asus X299 TUF mark 2, Noctua D15, Corsair Vengeance Pro 3200 3x 16GB 2R, RTX 3070, NZXT E850, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, Acer Predator XB241YU 24" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync + HP LP2475w 24" 1200p 60Hz wide gamut
Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion 5, 5800H, RTX 3070, Kingston DDR4 3200C22 2x16GB 2Rx8, Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB + Crucial P1 1TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible

I have a 1070 strix and it's great. Temps rarely pass 60 on load and it looks great.

I think the most popular choices at the moment are EVGA FTW3 and ASUS Strix.

EVGA FTW3 - Better customer support, Genuine 2-Slot design (others are 2.5 or 3)

ASUS Strix - BEST RGB implementation, subdue colour that matches any case colour scheme, PWM Fan Headers

For the Zotac that @BLVCKRIPPER mentioned, it looks very similar to ASUS one but it also looks bigger. I have not heard that bigger size giving any more advantage. It should have higher base setting, but it does not really mean anything once you actually apply OC yourself.

There are others out there like ASUS Poseidon or EVGA Hybrid, but have not looked too much into them. Likely to be better, but also more expensive. So, I think the EVGA FTW3 or ASUS Strix would be default choices.

Now, if you are planning to put the card under custom loop, then you should just buy reference/FE version that goes for cheapest.
