AMD Ryzen 7 or AMD thread ripper

So I'm planning to build a pc on pc part picker and I can't decide between the Ryzen 1800X

or Thread ripper 1950X I mainly just game and plan to get in to video editing in the future 

i will most likely paring it with a gtx 1070 or 1080 

and 16 GB's of ram

i would get a r7 1700x with watercooling, than overclock it and save money for a better gpu

ryzen 1700. it can overclock to 1800x speeds.

you should use high speed DDR4 ram (3200MHz)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB 

138 is a good number.

Alright I will go for a 1700X so I can try to get a GeForce Gtx 1080 and maybe 32GB's of Ram

I donno what kind of editing you're going for, but 32 GB is 16 GB beyond necessary.

Yeah but damn, that's $180 going out the door. It'll (generally speaking) never be used. Hell even 16GB is a bit overkill.

Unless you have an unlimited budget, Ryzen 7. If you can afford Threadripper you can afford a Ryzen 7 with a 1080ti which will be a much better gaming rig.
