I have been looking for a new laptop recently (as stated in an earlier post) and my office has been in a small feud over what is the better option. So I am here to ask the wonderful LTT Community what their thoughts are on the matter.

I have been looking for a laptop because most of my media consumption and work is done on a laptop. When I sit at a desktop I get into a gaming mind set more than a productive one. Plus my current laptop is having overheating issues (even after cleaning) and is over all out dated my almost 7 years. I plan to video edit, game, capture footage, and do some graphic work on this laptop. As well as watch YouTube for tutorials or while away on trips (I plan to be traveling a decent amount over the next few years).

Razer Blade 14 (2017)

Pros:

  • Good Build Quality
  • Good RGB Keyboard
  • Acceptable Color Accuracy
  • Light Weight
  • Powerful Specs

Cons:

  • Terrible Thermals
  • Poor Customer Service
  • Price

Alienware R3 13 (OLED)

Pros:

  • Amazing Screen
  • Good Feeling Keyboard
  • Great IO (Thunder Bolt)
  • Price
  • Powerful Specs

Cons:

  • Zone RGB Lighting
  • Heavy
  • Alien Design (Subjective)

Gigabyte Aero 15

Pros:

  • Acceptable Color Accurecy
  • Light Weight
  • Thin Bezel Screen
  • Decent IO (Thunder Bolt)
  • Acceptable Thermals

Cons:

  • Limited Design Choice (Black, Green, Orange. Subjective)
  • Keyboard Ghosting and Shortcut Issues
  • Price

If you have any other suggestions or want to back up a particular option go ahead. Feel free to research the laptops yourself for more info. These are the main pros and cons we came up with. There are obviously more pros and cons to each, but we felt these were the more important ones.

If you suggest another laptop, this is the basics of what I am looking for:

  1. Good Color Accurecy
  2. Thunder Bolt
  3. GTX 1060 (Or better)
