Corsair HX750i, or not?

TechnoSword
Go to solution Solved by RadiatingLight,

Get whichever is cheaper.

no need to pay more for the HX750i, but fi it's the cheapest tier 1/2 PSU you can find, then go for it.

the EVGA G3 and Seasonic Prime are AFAIK the best right now in terms of regulation and overall quality, but all tier 1 and 2 PSUs are totally fine, and you won't notice a difference between 0.1% and 0.05% ripple.

BTW, PSU tier list in my sig, shows all the tiers and stuff.

I want to get the HX750i, or the variant without corsair link, for the tight voltage ripple it allegedly has. Have wanted one for ages. Is there a reason not to get it, or to get say, a EVGA G2 instead?

I would go for the SeaSonic Platinum 860 at that price range but I would recommend the Corsair RM750x since it's on sale.

The G2 is cheaper, that's about it. If you want link then get the RMi.

I would pick the HX750i over the EVGA G2, just for the fanless mode and Link. Check out Jonnyguru's review on them I have an HX750i and I am extremely happy with it, but I also have an EVGA 1000 P2 and have no problem with it either. I would NOT get an RM PSU though because it uses some LTEC caps though.

G2 also has semi fanless mode :D

Ok, great to know.

FOLLOW UP question.

Any reason why I shouldn't buy the RM750i as a Corsair refurb? It's only 75$, and is very tempting.

Prime has problem with fan.

Some users reported very noticable motor noise.

Corsair refurb products only have a one year warranty.

Also noted, corsair refurb PSUs are mostly returns or the previous owner experienced coil whine with it, coil whine is very hardware specific so you will likely not be effected.

That logic doesn't make sense.

Should I get the more expensive Platinum Corsair PSU or the cheaper Gold EVGA?

Why is the Gold Corsair not in contention?   (The RMx or RMi).  The only difference is the efficiency.
