To sum up Vega 64:

wTBws.png

On the other hand, Vega 56 actually does look alright, all things considered. Power consumption isn't terrible, price to performace ratio is actually pretty decent, etc. I could see Vega 56 doing well.

The Vega 56 looks to be compelling, beats the 1070 out the gate.....And more importantly, it's MSRP is cheaper than the 1070.

Vega 56 is $400 while the 1070 is $380.

Vega 56 looks OK, not perfect but not a total disaster either, if it had been launched a year ago I'd have called it a success.

Vega 64 however... it's a massive disaster.

I saw some discussions on /r AMD, some samsung CF monitor in a vega bundle apparently has problems with flickering, some of their cheaper monitors seem to have the same problem too.

Prices are inflated because of mining, and that will apply just as much (if not more) to Vega 56.

Maybe someone can enlighten me and explain but I don't see how Vega 56, if stock vs stock, traded blows with a 1070 is good thing at a higher MSRP plus the higher heat output and power draw? I mean, I can go to many different retailers (Best Buy, Microcenter, etc.) and get a 1070 for $299.

Please find me a vendor in the US selling 1070s for under 420 USD. Most are 439.99 and some skus going all the way up to 500+

Sounds like Vega could pretty much be summed up as "Too little, too late."

First off, he's talking about MSRP. Secondly, prices on GPUs are inflated across the board due to mining.

MSRP for the 1070 is $349. So it seems the only flat comparison is to compare MSRP, as inflation will cause prices to go anywhere and everywhere.

Apologies i now see that his initial comment was about msrp though i still believe it means little to nothing if you cant find a 1070 anywhere near msrp prices. You could argue all day that the msrp is lower but it doesnt mean tit all if you cant find one for less than 50+ of msrp.

Why do both 56 and 1070 have the same MSRP?Why would anyone buy an inferior gpu for the same price?

But Vega 56 won't stick to its MSRP either. Its price will also be driven up due to the mining craze. So the same thing that's causing the 1070 to sit will above its MSRP will have the same effect (or worse) on Vega 56. And that's not even considering the likely lower initial stock.

Yeah I wouldn't worry: People don't wait over a full year to make a purchase and probably never intended to go 1070 if they did.

Ya I realized that lol. Oh well, it happens. I've seen some of them at Microcenter for 299 for the past few months though.

The 56 preforms better in more games then the 1070. and at 1440p and 2160p it is even better.

I highly doubt that: if there were anywhere below 350 they were probably refurbished or returned after mining them into oblivion.

Results from hardware unboxed showed that it performs right around the 1070.
