EDID Wrong on VGA TV

Steo

I have an old LCD TV here I'm planning to build a little arcade system with but the TV's EDID is reporting the wrong resolution and causing me headaches. Under windows I can manually set the resolution to 1280x1024 which is the TV's native but the EDID is reporting 1280x720 (it's not a widescreen TV). It's a VGA connection going to a DVI converter.

I want to run lakka which is Linux and retroarch basically a really light OS, but due to this false EDID information it reports that the signal is out of range. I need to either try to get lakka to read an EDID file to work which I don't think is possible or else reprogram my TV's EDID to report the correct resolution.

Is it possible to reflash the EDID on the TV or am I out of luck here?
