Best cooler for threadripper

I'm planning to build a new pc with a threadripper (1950x). What is the best option for cooling? I'm a visual effects artist so it will be under heavy load but I don't care about rgb, I just want to keep cool and be quiet..

Custom loop.

That sounds a bit beyond me unfortunately. This will be my first build (ambitious I know) but I'd like to keep things reasonably simple..

Thanks for advice, why does the h100i v2 beat the competition?

I would choose one of these, when they becomes available: https://www.amd.com/en/thermal-solutions-threadripper

Are none of those available already?

Also, what about this:

It's cheaper than the X62 and since you don't care about style it should work

Is it better than the noctua nh-u14s fan cooler (the one they released for threadripper)? I was reading that the noctua fans are as good if not better than a lot of liquid coolers..?

They are about the same but one will be quieter

I'm thinking of ordering all the parts today. Is it best to get a cheaper air cooler like the Arctic Freezer 33 TR, and then wait for a threadripper-specific AIO liquid cooler that covers the whole IHS? Or are there any AIOs that are currently availabile that you think are worth going for?

Thanks for or your advice. I read that none of those cover the full threadripper IHS so may not be as effective, whereas the enermax cooler supposedly does cover the full IHS? Is that very important? Or would you still go with a cooler master?

I’m using the H115i on a 1950x. It’s been more than adequate @ stock speeds. I’m fully immersed in Corsair link, so I’m glad it worked out.

Get the Enermax LIQTECH TR4 240 (or 360)

http://www.enermaxusa.com/product.php?pid=89532606#!/LIQTECH TR4 240/p/89532606

It will only work for threadripper, but is currently the best option for right now. Do that or get one of the Noctua U12, U9, or U14S TR4 coolers. Both options are good, but can only be used with threadripper. Any other liquid cooler will NOT do as well as this as the full die will not be covered. You can only use specific air coolers made for threadripper with it.

I'm not sure about the other coolers, but here is my temps with the Kraken X62.

Idle  (This can jump as high as 45c-50c for about half a second, usually it spikes when i'm just starting on doing something, like opening the web browser)

59e6f9de17d72_TRtempsidle.PNG.45bb22c062beef735dea1590784055ed.PNG

Load.  (No temperature spikes here, the fans get quite loud though.  I have a pretty aggressive "silence" optimized fan profile)

59e6fa5861414_TRtempsload.PNG.986af7ab4f425b64c0db6b6f00f16fcf.PNGI'm using Blender's cycles rendering engine to stress the CPU.

Edit: Thought I would post this as well.

I would take the accuracy of these temperatures with a grain of salt though.

59e7258ca2c70_Screenshot(183).thumb.png.67be0e7bdecbd71b3c740ba8b928246a.png

As you can see, the temperatures don't match with any of the other monitoring software's readings, and one of them was made by AMD themselves.

Sorry for the information dump.  :P

ENERMAX 240 or 360  for the TR4 is the only non EK or custom water loop setup I would recommend for the threadripper since the temperature throttling happens at 68 degrees at the tdie. Trust me the other AIO's will work but you will not be getting the full performance out of the threadripper as it was be throttling under full load when temps get close to 68. I would only recommend a non TR4 specific AIO if you are a "light" user, meaning only doing 1 heavy task at a time. I was gaming and streaming at the same time  (around 65-80% cpu load) and would always hit the 68 degree throttling temp within 1 hour with a h100i v2.

OS: Windows 10 Pro

CPU: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X

Cooling: Enermax LiqTech 360mm TR4
Motherboard: AORUS X399 Gaming 7
PSU: Corsair RM1000i

RAM: 32 GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3600MHz
M.2: 250GB Samsung 960 EVO
GPU: AORUS GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Xtreme OC Edition
