How ironic. With Sapphire's Fury lineup they introduced a new cooler layout with air pass through:

This cooler type is extremely efficient. Sapphire tried the same with the 480 series, but there is no point in having air passing through if there are no fins.

 

Well looks like XFX is taking over with the design with the new VEGA's:
