M.2 running Gen 2 instead of Gen 3

I found out what the issue was Asus bios setting.

Running no oc , the SSD is on gen3 x4.

Running my stable oc to 4.2Ghz , it is lock on gen2 x4

Looked deeply on that issue and i found out on another forum.

On this mb if you touch : "Source clock tuner , PLL selection, PLL Filter" the NVMe Drive is stuck on gen2.

Done my oc without those options and now i run both 4.2Ghz and gen3 x4.

Still don't know why i don't have the NVMe menu , but well.

Hello

I am using an NVME SSD for os+games and 4 Sata SSD in raid 10 for the rest.

But i am encountering a weird issue.

My M.2 Slot is stuck on Gen2 4x instead or running Gen 3 4x.

Wich result in a read speed cap at 1800 mb/s instead of 3200.

Write speed is at 1600 mb/s.

I checked the bios i see no option to switch from gen2 to gen3 for the M.2 slot.

Here are my pc specs :

X99 Sabertooth

I7 6800K

4*4Gb 2666 Mhz cl15

Samsung 960 EVO 500Gb

raid 10 4*250Gb Samsung 850 EVO

GTX1080

more detailed in my profile.

Do you have any idea on how to solve this issue ? Thanks by advance.

I wish i could oc my body, during winter overheating would be great.

The M.2 slot shared bandwidth with the very last PCI-E X16 slot.

Go to Advanced >> NB PCI-E Configuration, and make sure PCIEx16_3 is running at [Gen3] mode.

(page 3-41 of your motherboard user manual)

Go to Advanced >>  PCIEx16_3 Bandwidth Mode, and make sure it is on [Auto] so it allocates PCI-E lanes to the M.2 socket.

(page 3-47 of your motherboard user manual)

Then go into Advanced >>  NVMe configuration to go over everything about your M.2 drive, etc.

(page 3-50 of your motherboard user manual)

It's all I can think of at the moment...this late in the evening.

I have already done both of those two , i will check for the last one.:

edit : i don't have Advanced\NVMe In my bios like on the manual image.

i guess i will have to update my bios.

Edit2 : i updated my BIOS.to last version still no "Advanced\NVMe" inside and SSD still running Gen2 4X.

I wish i could oc my body, during winter overheating would be great.
