Using different GPU for different programs.

Hi, is it possible (if it is, how) to run 2 different gpus for different tasks? for ex: rendering/gaming; mining/gaming
i've seen videos where people can do that from nvidia control panel, but can't find it
P.S gpus are 630 and 1080

I think rendering/mining software allows you to choose the graphics card while games will pick whatever the monitor is connected to.

I don't see why not. it would probably be very taxing to the CPU/RAM/PSU though. You could probably expect stuttering and dips as well.

So let's say I have a GTX 1050ti and a GT430 2GB version with GDDR3. Is it possible for me to use the 1050ti for gaming and the GT430 for recording?

And also do I need a motherboard that allows SLI?

it was example, i'm not rendering, mining software allows you but games doesn't

I'm sure there are ways to do it. it'll have to be application side though. Maybe a separate app to control it or something.

It's do able, some programs are easy some aren't as I've seen some games that allow you to choose GPU's as well.

Apparently, it is doable through Nvidia control panel.

You could probably do it depending on the program but it's very taxing on your CPU/RAM/PSU Might not need SLI because they are doing separate tasks individually.

how ever I can't be 100% sure some others will have to confirm

why? in my case, 1080 is mining, it doesn't need much cpu, even tried mining with both gpu, and cpu was good, it's i3 btw, other people claim to do that, but can't find program for it cuz all google tells me is "GO TO NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL and bla bla bla"

Monitor on gaming GPU, other GPU for whatever you want to do with it

Not sure. Using shadowplay for recording and gaming with 1050ti at the same time is good enough to me. You definitely dont need SLI though since the other GPU should act as a capture card if it works like that.

if it's an i3 it'll be even worse with stuttering and frame rate dips.

type nvidia into your search to find the program "Nvidia Control Panel."

Under manage 3d settings, it might take a second to load (or you might have to click the add button), but look for "Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind" in the first dropdown box under program settings.

Box 2 says "Select the Preffered graphics processor for this program," click the dropdown and select the graphics card you want to use. For my laptop the two options are "High-performance NVIDIA processor" and "Integrated Graphics"

do what this dude above says. If it doesn't work you'll have to do your own research does look like it's possible at the very least.

Pretty sure it isn't. Just because he did it for his laptop doesn't mean its laptop only. I was able to see the choice on my desktop.

Yep, works on desktop.   Manage 3D settings in Nvidia Control Panel.

Huh, that is interesting.

Hmmm, not sure if that something to do with W10 or new drivers.

I would see if Nvidia Inspector application can restrict to a specific GPU.  But, I am currently out of State at the moment.

It allows for more advance control of the driver for games and GPU (you can even overclock using that application).

Check under CUDA-GPU's. I found it in there as well.

Don't know if that works though.
