One thing, that means they're announcing them on Aug 21st. Which was on their roadmap. That doesn't mean it's when they'll be available. That might still be late September/October.

In some ways, Intel's strategy makes sense. Their bread and butter markets are mobile (i.e., laptops) and servers, which value efficiency over raw horsepower.

 

Besides, there is a point where the amount of effort required to optimize something grossly exceeds the the output you get. There's little value in doing so.

Yah the IMC is really something that should be fixed, they have done a lot of work with it, doubt they can make it better with more firmware updates tbh

That's the glofo 14nm process not AMD. Will improve with 7nm process.

7800X will still offer more than Coffee Lake, in the form of AVX-512 and quad channel ram. Doubt either of those will make its way into mainstream any time soon.

Differently optimised, in a parallel way that Ryzen is differently optimised.

AMD don't have the clock to back up the cores with and feeble AVX2 performance.
