I cannot see most of the images posted?

Hello!

As for a reason I cannot understand, I cannot see the images posted by most people? There are tons of threads I'd love to see but rather than seeing an image all I get is like an 'X' in a box and a ton of random letters after that?

Sorry if I sound dumbfounded but I kind of am right now...

Thank you very much in advance!

you should be able to see that ^^

some people like to embed images from a website that don't allow embedding images / without you accessing the article before you can see the image

Are you behind any sort of web filter? It sounds like the images might be being blocked.

Sounds like Adblock Plus to me, if you use it to block the ad on the top right manually the filter rule created usually messes up with further other images on threads and even some users profile pictures.

You not the only one.  I notice quiet bit of late that images are either showing the X with the name of the image or just the name of the image.

Then again, I am deployed in a country that filters content.

Hello!

I only ever really use the forums on my desktop, and I don't believe any parental on Windows or web filters are interfering with it. I have disabled most web filters on internet explorer and my Wi-Fi only blocks is inappropriate websites, and doesn't really block images. I have nothing like Ad block either. I've had this issue for ages now and its starting to bother me a lot :c

Thank you very much for you help so far! :D

I do not have anything like Ad block as I don't mind waiting for advertisements on YouTube xD

Could you link to a page where you have problems?  Sometimes people link to a place and then over time the source is removed so the images no longer load, or they somehow mess up the linking in the first place, but aside from those two relatively uncommon issues, I've never had issues loading an image.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Maybe link to some example? Like in Show off thread there are times when people new to how forums work post wrong kind of links, links to FB or other cloud services with folder properties set wrong etc. It would be easier to check if someone else is getting same issue vs trying to guess what would cause yours. Also if you can get source link for any image which isn't showing. Like for example image by @themctipers posted to this thread is uploaded directly to forums, unlike these from Show off

which are hosted with Imgur. Idk how it works with other browsers, but with Firefox you can view image info and get url from which its linked.

in chrome it's right click and then click on 'open link in new tab'

firefox's wording on the right click list isn't clear for me (but im using the linux version) :( so it takes 5 seconds for me to find the correct button.

Basicly one could use View Image option too. Does essentially same thing. But View Image Info gives popup window which is bit more handy imo.

My internet had a filter when we switched, and it always blocked Tumblr images on the forum cuz Tumblr was categorized as pornography (whatever DNS site classified it as such idk.) It's probably blocking Tumblr images.

I used to be quite active here.
