macOs on AMD RYZEN Threadripper- is it possible ?

Dear Folks,

I am just wondering, if LTT can put together this system and will it work ?

AMD RYZEN 1920X Thread ripper

X399 Motherboard (Some years later with Intel Thunderbolt 3 Add-on card support)

AIO CPU Water cooler

Quad Channel DDR4 3200 MHZ RAM

macOS HIgh Seirra/Sierra(?)

2xAMD RX VEGA 64 CU GPU in Crossfire

I have been windows user for a long time of my career, starting from Tech support.

There are lot of You tubers swearing their life for Final Cut Pro X in mac OS.

So kept me wondering why we cannot put this system together get best of all worlds ?

1. Can we pull this off ?

2. What kind of score we will get in Bruce 5K tests ?

3. Can we beat iMac Pro Line up ?

Probably not. There are still many architectural differences between AMD and Intel. If you want a Hackintosh use Skylake-SP instead of Threadripper.

Not yet, but once the new Mac Pro is out Ryzen/TR support will likely exist for macOS

The new Mac Pro will be Intel-based. It will use Skylake-SP or Cascade Lake-SP. It may even have two CPUs.

Vega yes, EPYC no (I don't think/can't find any evidence online). Feel free to prove me wrong though, I'd like an AMD macOS from Apple.

There is a community dedicated for AMD-OSX

So I'm wondering can Linus pull this ?

Linus (or at least the forum) doesn't like hackintosh.

I doubt they'd do this.

Thats because its aginst Apples Terms of Service. Apple doesnt like Hackintosh, they have the legal right to sue anyone who uses there OS on Non Apple hardware. While its a slim chance they will, why take a chance? Last I checked Apple is a Billion dollar company with an Army of Lawyers.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

AMD NO

INTEL YES

Yeah, must have just been a rumor/I saw the corecount and thought EPYC! (even though EPYC has way more cores and it's more like the i9 lineup XD)

Explains the TB3, I would assume that may have factored into the decision more than a bit.

They do but it will never happen. The positives of suing them far out weighs the benefits. That's really there to keep people from making a business of making and selling hackintosh's.

Also would like to point out that helping someone with a Hackintosh is against the rules here so I won't advise. All I'm saying is its easy to google.

Yeah you have to part shop carefully.

AMD-OSX should be a hobby, if you want a daily driver Hackintosh you should use Tonymac compatible parts list for the smoothest experience.

HOWEVER. AMD support may move from a hobby to native support in the future because AMD suddenly have compelling products unlike the past. Unless there is a classic Intel bribe rebate agreement already in place. Though I doubt that as Apple don't need anyone's charity.
