Final Fantasy XIV, and MMORPG's with PVP. What could we do to make these more Competitive? <<GLORY>>

Melano

Title. I just feel like MMO's try to make a PVP system, then make is balanced or something, but then throw it all away and redo it in poor ways. Like XIV's current pvp system.. Party of 2 for practice even though its 8v8, and 1 man queue only for 4v4. Like, why?

What's that?

It's the best PvP mmorpg around for over 14 Years.

http://darkageofcamelot.com/

There are no instance based PvP where you get rewards either if you win or lose, you have to conquer and defend what you have, a "open world" frontier with three realms where you can chose, Albion (Knights, Wizards etc), Hibernia (Celtic mythology based realm), Midgard (nordic based realm). Those three realms are at war after King Arthur died. So there is a PvE zone with no PvP at all where you level and gear up, and then there is the frontier where the three realms clash.

Bonus with the three realms against two realms, no matter which realm is strongest (some will change realms due to liking too much to win) it doesn't matter that much because the other two "team up" to beat the bully.

While leveling there are level specific PVP zones.

Nothing is instanced in PVP so like I said, you need to defend what you got.

Original Goal was to capture all the relics which give bonus to casts or mele (depending which relic, 3 for mele, 3 for casts).

Each realm has in the big frontier 7 Keeps with 3-4 Towers. Those are to conquer with rams, palintones, katapults etc. And the defenders inside can place as well palintones or boiling oil at the gates. Even so each realm has their own classes which differ from realm to realm and in spec. So tank isn't tank caster type isn't like caster type.

You can go solo, 8 man groups, or Battle groups with max 200 people inside.

The biggest fight I personally attended was around 900 players fighting for a Keep. The game ran beautifully.

It has a monthly fee though.

@Melano

This is in game footage, with less enemies around. A video from the makers. The gfx in the game is better than in the video, the quality is a little grizzled.
