Is This It?

charlezprice

Hey! I hate to sound ungrateful or anything like that for these sales, but I'm new to online Black Friday shopping, and it just doesn't seem like there are a whole lot of deals. I am in the market for a new AMD FX 6300 and a 990FX motherboard, but neither of those seem to be on sale, and from my understanding, those are hot items with a high demand, and a lot of people would probably be shopping for them right at this time. My question is, why isn't more like really hot items on sale? Is there still any hope of them going on sale?

Look at the 8320 at $130. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285

Then question why you even considered the 6300.

I know, I've seen it. The issue is my budget is literally strung so thin I can't even afford that.

Well allow us to help you out with your build.

We could use more info first though.

Alright. I am currently running the following:

Intel Core i5 650

ASRock H55 Motherboard

8GB Ram

Radeon HD 7850

I am looking to upgrade to:

AMD FX 6300 (Or an 8320 in your guys' case)

Gigabyte 990FX UD3(On sale, but not quite what I expected)

Alternatively, would an AMD FX 8320 with a Gigabyte 970A-D3P be good?  Or would the 970 motherboard take away some performance?

The only differences from the 970 and 990fx are more features and overclocking room. Performance is unaffected.

What's your budget?

Should be fine, you probably won't be able to overclock very much though...

I've owned both a 6300 and an 8350 and trust me, the 8320 will give you so much more performance. I'm not even kidding.

The Max I can do is like $200 give or take a little. And I am not a big overclocker at all, so would the 970 be an okay choice if all I'm going is gaming?

Yep.

I really recommend stretching for the 212 Evo though: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1ajSj

It's not nice to leave the 8320 on a stock cooler.
