Replacement Build

I am guessing you are re-using the Case, PSU and HDD. So the money left is 800$, I can do a lot in that price range.

Just so you know, you could have just linked straight to pcpartpicker instead of going through the trouble of taking a screen capture and uploading it to a file hosting service.

Also, I'll go ahead and ask these because someone inevitably will: What do you plan on using this build for? What is your budget?

Thanks for the suggestion! I plan on playing CS:GO, PUBG, Rust, RL, and lots of other games. I do hope to keep the build's budget modest.

Resolution and refresh rate of your monitor?

My monitor is 1080 and 60Hz. I do plan to upgrade in the future before I go off to college.

I know that there has been a lot of talk of this new CPU for AMD, but I want to know how good is it? I have looked at some videos and looked at some results but what is your honest opinion? I can get the i5 7600k for the same price as the Ryzen but I would pay more for the mobo.

More cores, SMT, benefits in workloads and multi-core tasks, has amazing IPC to benefit in gaming, and with games utilizing more cores that lead on Intel will only get more significant.

Get Ryzen 5. i5 CPUs aren't worth it anymore...

A 1600 has triple the threads - most modern games use at least 4 and often 6-8 threads easy.  Modern i5's are a very poor choice.

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

What would you suggest in terms of a mobo if I get the 1600x?

Get a 1600 non X and use the stock cooler. Then get whatever b350 or x370 mobo you like

Also if I may ask why should I avoid MSI? Their ratings for the AMD boards are quite good.

Yup.

When looking at the rating of most motherboards, they barely get over 3/5 stars. Would you mind listing some motherboards that are of good quality?
