Help needed deciding specs for the SAGER NP9876

After a lot of research and help from fellow users here I have decided to buy the NP9876 from Sager. I will be placing the order on XOTICPC.

I have a couple of questions and maybe you guys here will be able to help me regarding the specs of the laptop. It comes with an i7-7700K, a 17.3 inch 120Hz 1440p display with G-SYNC.

  1. There is an option to choose the GTX 1070 or a GTX 1080. If I were to make full use of the screen, will a GTX 1070 suffice? The GTX 1080 option does cost 350$ more.
  2. Is 16 GB RAM sufficient or should I go for the 32 GB option? The 32 GB option costs an additional 150$.

Please help me decide these two things as I am unsure and have little experience with pascal GPUs. Thank you.

Agreed on the GTX 1080 if you plan to make full use of the screen. As for the RAM, what are you planning to use this laptop for? If it's just gaming,16 GB is fine.

Well I will be using several CFD software along with stuff like Matlab, AutoCad and stuff. I am an aerospace engineer going to study masters soon in England.

So, I think 16 GB is enough(?) I am still unsure. What do you think?

Hi! I'm on holiday at the moment and no LTE :)

I7-7700k and 2x16gb ram are fine for cfd softwares. I think that a gtx1070 should be ok for your use

Hidevolution does offer delidded CPU. But for the same specs, it costs 3,200$ while on XOTICPC it is 2,800$.

Is Xotic PC bad in your experience?

Can you post the spec'd out pages from both these sites. The price difference sounds larger than normal to me.

If you're going single gpu, this really isn't the correct laptop to get. You should get the p775dm3. I'll give it a closer look when I'm back.
