980, so long as the extra money isnt going to put you on the street or anything.

Performs better, and will run far... FAR quieter on pretty much any cooler than the 290x reference card.

Reference design coolers across the board are just awful. But if reference designs weren't blower style, then there'd be practically no blower cards on the market at all and anyone running an extra-small form factor pc would be put out. Its also cheaper :3

I can spend up to 250 GBP, the 290x is a good deal cheaper but it's gonna cost me to upgrade the cooling on it as i can't live with Michael Bay's private Jet plane in my room.

While they're similar in performance, this one makes the 290X a bad choice. Reference coolers were garbage, for a 290X you need a decent aftermarket version (even some aftermarket ones were crap because the card puts out a lot of heat, I know what I'm talking about, I had a 290X myself)

I would look for other cards available. The 980 performs bad in DX12/Vulkan and has 4GB of VRAM (the 290X too, but with higher bandwidth which makes it perform better in higher resolutions). How much are cards like RX 480 / R9 Fury in your area?

I'm buying a new GTX 1060 6gb for 277 euro now.

Tbh for 250 pounds you can find a 980ti, hopefully soon. Seems that some realized they are asking for way too much for their old nonmining cards.

MSI Z270 SLI PLUS - 7600k 5.1GHz - Corsair LPX 3000MHz - G1 Gaming GTX1060 - Arctic LiquidFreezer 240 - Crucial m.2 275GB - WD 1TB - EVGA B3 750W - Segotep Lux - LG 34UC79 Curved - Redragon Yama - Redragon Hydra - Gigabyte WIFI

Sound is provided by a Pioneer Amp from the 70s - if it's not broken, don't fix it.

This is a great deal if legit, I also had an R9 Fury (Sapphire Nitro one) and it was a great card. Once overclocked, it reached stock 1070/980Ti scores in Firestrike ;) It ran cool and was quiet, the Nitro cooler was amazing. It's a long card due to the radiator so keep that in mind whether it fits into your case ^_^

Mate why don't you buy a cheaper entry level card like R9 280x and when the prices go back to normal sell it for little loss and buy a better and newer one?

:)) well if the Fury can handle your needs then go for it. But I'd be wary of used GPUs, especially AMDs. I have an R9 280x which sucks major ass for mining, yet there is a guy here selling 2 rigs of 5 280x each for quite the cash. All GPUs can be used to some degree.

I paid 400$ for mine brand-new in the store and sold it for 510$ used for 8 months :P Bought a top-end 980Ti variant with that money and it was worth it ^_^ (Yeah, the prices are high but here in Poland those are actually normal prices)

Mine didn't unlock at all but it got 1160MHz core / 550MHz memory stable which gave me 17300 GPU points in FireStrike ^_^

It's definitely faster than both 980 & 290X and is more futureproof, performing great in DX12 titles (BF1 runs awesome on it) while consuming less power than a 290X and around the 980 level if you undervolt it, yeah, it has 4GB of VRAM but it's HBM and even if you surpass 4GB it doesn't result in performance loss unless you surpass 5GB :)
