Cloned Cell Phone?

No, we think her phone has been cloned and I drove myself up in paranoia by imagining what-if scenarios. People told her that someone else has picked up her phone and she received several access code text messages like someone was resetting her passwords. Red flags. What else could that be? She also said a "bunch of weird stuff" happens sometimes when she walks home and uses data. She said it was like having bad to no service when she had 3 or 4 out of 5 circles of service.

What do you do if your phone has been cloned other than change passwords and your sim?

I'd personally start by notifying my Carrier of a potential problem, then I would contact the local police and do the same.

I'd follow this up by:

1. New number

2. New SIM

3. Factory reset the phone (Backup any important stuff first of course)

Don't know if this is the place, but I would like some advice asap. If I suspect my phone has been cloned what is the easiest way to shut the breach down? What is the first thing you recommend someone do with their cloned cell phone?

Anything else? If a user got access codes texted to them unexpectedly, what can they do other change passwords and their sim card/phone number?

I've googled it and I don't have any good advice or explanations.

You phone hasn't been cloned as it's more likely that cell broadcast is on (if there's a CB symbol or 200 showing on the display, then it's active) and you need to go into your message settings to turn it off (under the option broadcast messages, but it might be different so do a google for your phone model along with disable cell broadcast).

I heard of people cloning phones when I looked into investing in Bitcoin. Then, this woman I talk to everyday at work shared these weird events, phone calls and texts she has been getting recently. I told her to change her SIM and number, but now I am also paranoid, because I wouldn't know what to actually do if it were me.

So.. Basically you have no reason to think your phone has been cloned, you just drove yourself up in paranoia by imagining what-if scenarios...
