ASUS ROG Zenith Extreme x399 Monoblock by EK (Leak?)

Heya!

Maybe this doesn't belong here, maybe it does.

EKWB will be releasing a Monoblock for the upcomming ROG Zenith Extreme x399.

This may be big News since there are currently no known cooler (especially watercooling) for threadripper. (Besides the Noctua Brick but thats doesn't count)

 

How do I know?

Asking in Discord EK said that there will only be Monoblocks on launch, which baffled me tbh.

Looking on EK's configurator site the only Motherboard listed under "x399" is the Asus Zenith.

Looking on the site of the mobo a monoblock is listed as "comming soon".

Does anyone know if mono locks will benefit X399? Seems the hard 4GHz ceiling isn't thermal and power consumption for Zen is stunning.

i doubt it since the board already has active cooling

active cooling? What? To my knowledge its fully passive so far.

Well, what would be the point of not making it a mono block? The socket is already so bit that the extra little bit will barely be notable over of it was just a CPU block lol

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Problem is: Monoblocks only work on that one specific mobo.

Cpu Clocks will work pretty much everywhere.

Well EK is on this list so I would expect at minimum a TR4 support on a CPU block.

 

I would like to see gaming fluid support, mono block support, and their new AIO MLC support.

True, I would guess they will have one for each board though, probably almost the same thing with minor changes to for the different boards. Will suck that you can't just go and buy a block though that you can slap on any board.

I thought they were kinda locked into Nvidia/Intel? :o

well it is for liquid coolers only so far. which I feel is not much work to make their existing product work for a different socket.

Also of all the coolers shown... Air and Water, only Noctua is showing off the model/version with the threadripper base plate.

 

The rest are still the old/standard versions, so we will still have to wait and see what the new stuff looks like.

You could just use a GPU block at this point since it's so big. Lol. Seems good though to help control heat

More importantly: RAM is in the way on the left of the CPU. There's just no way to account for RAM heatspreaders to clear and it would be awkward as hell to create some kind of monoblock with feet to reach over the ram to the power components on the left:

I'm pretty sure this will probably be a block to replace VRM cooling on the top and left without covering the CPU which would be a separate block and then you connect both to your loop regularly.

the VRM on the left if for RAM so they might not have that on the block and only cool the CPU VRM at the top.

There is a fan on the left side, but i'm not sure what is under that heatsink, we can't clear see it. But whole VRM for CPU could be just above him, in this case a monoblock would be easy to made.

So happy about this love the monoblock + ram block look.   So clean so pretty.     Was waiting for Asus x299 amd ek to make a mono block to come out but I don't think it has yet so x399 it is
