Are these Ryzen 5 temps normal?

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600X

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X31

Just built a new PC for a friend. Managed to eliminate the original CPU fan error I was getting.

I have now booted up and installed the CAM software provided by NZXT.

I am getting 48°c idle, 60-70°C if I do anything simple like open internet explorer. Bare in mind, both side panels are off at the moment.

Are these normal temps? I'm not used to AMD CPUs so maybe these a normal?

Also, is there anyway I can know for sure that the water cooler is working?

Please advise.

It's probably because of your mount, it's not secure enough.

Either this or CAM sucks. Get temp monitor or cpuz

I have a ryzen 1500x and with its stock cooler, my cpu goes up to 75 degrees under full load. Ryzen cpu's typically are hotter than most

Ryzen is positively icey compared to equivalent cpus dude.

Cam is accurate

Like I said it was either a bad mounting OR cam was bad.  To eliminate one of those things get a second monitor software.

Is there anyway to know if the pump is even working? There is no lights on this model.

4790K is not that hot. Devil's Canyon had good thermals. Mine overclocked to 4.7ghz at 1.3V is only hits about 55-60C under load.

The pump is working, if it weren't it would bet at almost 100C quick

I'm using a Kraken X61 with some Noctua overpriced things for even more overkill and the 4790k is just crap for thermals. I cant wait to delid mine at some point and ACTUALLY have good temps. Maybe I could get 4.6 out of it then...

Well it is going up to 80°c when I'm just downloading simple software like GeForce Experience.

Something is not right. Surely a bracket won't make that much of a difference haha?

Well hopefully it does.

Exactly, I have no idea to tell if it is working or not.

I have a pump on my own rig (x62 Kraken) and never hear any noises and I know it works for sure.

So I need a better way to make sure it is on besides listening.

If you touch the unit can you feel any vibrations?
