IT WASNT THE PSU

IT WAS MY FUCKING 400$EVGA GTX 1070

FUCK!!!

Wow.  Well, there's a good chance you're in warranty at least.  If you didn't OC it.

So I was using my PC and it crashed and I smelled smoke coming from it. my whole room smells like smoke, most of which from what I can tell came from my power supply.

What the fuck do I do; will it catch fire?

more importantly: is all of my data gone now?

MY FUCKING GTX 1070 CAUGHT FIRE AND ONE OF THE DIODES BURNED OUT. I AM REALLY FUCKING MAD.

OFF TOPIC: I suggest every poll from now on to have "**CK EA" option instead of "Other"

Replace the PSU and hope that it didn't take out anything else in its self-made funeral pyre.  If you have a warranty I'd contact the manufacturer to see what you can get from them.

In the immediate future, disconnect the power from the PSU.

Likely one of the capacitors fried, most times good PSUs are designed to kill just themselves and not forward on the power surge.

They'll probably want a receipt or invoice information, but evga's good with warranty repair/replacement...at least in my experience.

Bet you got one of the cards that was in the bad batch; except yours waited until now to go boom. Just open a ticket with EVGA, they'll work it out.
