I'm on one right now and honestly unless you need to be able to run desktop apps (you have to jail break it if you want to so that) then its not really worth it.

Its just not compatible with much tablet stuff I can't even put the mobile version of Google chrome on mine.

Hmm ipad is a better tablet. Simply because it has more apps, and thats the only thing you need on a tablet.

Windows RT as an OS is great on a tablet. My sister has the Dell Venue 8.1 and it's awesome...

I personally say the Surface is worthy of $200. I'd still compare it to

Nexus 10, Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Nexus 7 FHD

before making a decision.

not bad for $200, it is quite nice. The app store is limited but some1 mentioned jailbreaking so maybe you can sideload apps from another os?

The Surface is a really nice device. If you only need to mostly web surf and use Office, it's awesome device.

Getting Android would make 0 sense in the above case.

Ideally the Surface 2 would be a better option, as its massively, in your face, faster. But 200$ for teh one... that's a good deal...

Hmm.... choices... choices...

Well seeing as windows rt will pretty much be dead in 2014 I would stay away from any device using windows rt as it is likely that Microsoft will abandon it.

@AMD Lover

PLEASE NO!

i have the surface RT and it Sucks. The sides(like where the usb port, volume buttons are) are corroding, and grey bumpy dots grow from it.not covered in warranty.

Here is the timeline:

Around 3 days after purchase:Sides discolor from black to light grey

Around a week after purchase:left side start to grow, right side fine

Around a month:left side is blossoming with these rusty/patina things, right sides have a bit

Around 3 months:stops bothering to scrape them off with fingernails, use sandpaper to sand off

Around 4 months:one last sand before aluminum kitchen tape is stuck on it

Furthermore it overheats like crazy. Also once it overheats the graphics will go crazy.post-41033-0-48765100-1385686497.jpg

I think you have had some bad luck manufacture error. My laptop, now 5 years old, is in magnesium, even scratched where you lose a bit of the paint, due to have it dropped, and there is none of what you experienced. And I took my laptop everyday, including weekend, to school, with a lot of very cold to warm temperature from the icy cold outside, to the very humid, warm, inside during winter time.

The constant overheating issue is covered by the warranty.

Nope,i asked, they said the overheat is,but they say it might be caused by the rusting so they said my warranty is void.

Sigh...

I will never buy another Nokia or Microsoft product(except software) again.

Just no.I do not want another person to suffer using a m$ product.
