1080ti or wait?

I have a 4k monitor and would like to play games at 4k 60fps(doesnt have to be max settings) so basically I am looking at a 1080ti since it looks like vega is not going to compete with the 1080ti from what leaks have shown us at this moment. I am asking for people opinions on whether I should get a 1080ti or wait for the next generation from nvidia. I say wait because typically they launch a new architecture every year and a half that was the time difference between the 780 to the 980 and the 980 to the 1080. So since the 1080 came out in may 2016(I think I did not check) We should be getting a new architecture sometime soon... Right? Any thoughts? Also if we do get a new architecture soon how well do you guys think it will compete with the now king 1080ti? I currently would be upgrading from a 980ti that has more problems that just not running at 4k 60fps(coil whine is killing me slowly)

What leaks? Only Vega card that has been fully shown off  or leaked specs was the Founders Edition, which was a editing/workload card, not a gaming one.

Would you rather wait four months and get an 1180 or 2080 or whatever they call it that should be capable of what you want for about 500-600 dollars or would you rather pay 750 right now to get the gratification instantly? Up to you.

There were firestrike scores of the gaming versions of the vega cards at 2 different clock speeds. One was like 1600mhz on the core and they were worse than the 1080 graphics scores.

You can look up who made those benchmarks…  it will not get any more official than this before launch.

We don't know yet if those are the top cards or the mid range ones, there just labeled Vega. Also, this could be an old sample, or from a version of the product that has a faster revision of it.

You can always wait for something better to come out, but if you're going to think "but x product is just around the corner" you'll never build.

If you're building now, buy a 1080ti. If you can wait, wait. The 1080Ti should be perfectly fine for most games at 4k.

Volta 2080 won't be much faster than 1080 Ti, you'd have to wait for another year for that (2080 Ti). More efficient, yes.
