Yes, if you put them in dual channel they will run at the lower speed of one of them, but that's it.

If you have 2133mhz RAM and buy 3000mhz RAM to match it your 3000mhz ones will get downclocked to match the speed of your lower ones.

Mixing brands, sizes and speeds works but is not recommended.

Get same brand, size and speed to make sure it works.

Or sell your old ones to get new Idunno :P

It will work, but the new ram will downclock to meet the old.

AFAIK it only downclocks if it's running in dual channel, maybe that changed since the last time I made a build (like 3 years ago)

It always downclocks, regardless of the number of channels, afaik

Sell your old RAM and get two 3000MHz modules, or get an identical module to the one you have.

Keep in mind that, while RAM speed DOES have an effect, it's much less noticeable on Intel compared to Ryzen.  I don't know what you have.

It'd be awesome if someone can tests it, I currently don't have rigs so I can't test it, but it'd nice to confirm it.

The last time I tried this was back on DDR, from which I had a 667mhz ram and a 800mhz, and when running on dual channel they would slow down to 667mhz, but when not in dual channel (so first stick on first slot, second stick on second slot), it'd be 667mhz and 800mhz. No idea if this has changed since then.

Pretty sure there's info in the JEDEC documentation about it, but I'm not willing to dig through hundreds of pages of standards to find it. Not THAT bored
