SuperHub 2AC Internet?

Sir Asvald

So I moved to my friends house for 2 weeks and there is no internet. I'm using BT's open WiFi It's not the most stable internet and it's slow.. Anyway, I found A superhub 2AC router in the cupboard and they left everything (the previous tenents), all the cables. The house is also laid with CAT5e with a 16 port patch panel.

So I connected the router to coaxial cable and turned on the router, Now there is a problem. It doesn't get an IP from the ISP which is virgin media. So I'm guessing that they service has been disconnected? Is there a way to get it running or it can't be done?

Unless you pay for service, you won't have internet access. It seems that the service has been disconnected.

Cable modems have to be activated on a customers account they are registered to that customer, then authorized on the network. Thats why you dont buy used cable modems, because if they are still on a customers account, then the cable company wont provision it on your account. As they consider it someone else property.  So even if the service is not disconnected it wont work.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
