why are you getting that? if you are getting a 1600 it comes with a cooler. Also if you are using an aftermarket one, they mostly come with thermal paste. Just get some legit thermal paste. If you can afford a 1600 you can afford some thermal paste

Oh because I looked at a branded one and the thermal conductivity was like 7.5 while this one is just 1.93

yeah that's what i don't understand. The stock cooler isn't loud and it has a 95 w tdp cooling capacity i think when you're only using a 65 watt chipp. WHAT

Yep, I think the problem is that there is a lot of old info in forums etc where they say stock coolers are crap... this isn;t the case with the new AMD ones for sure... also good for some overclocking too, my 1700 runs fine at 3.8/3.9 with stock wraith spire cooler... I have put different thermal compound on though, I'm using IC diamond as it's always proved very good for me.

I won't use anything that could hurt my system, even if the chances are incredibly low.  IC Diamond scratches the surface of the IHS (which I feel might have an effect on the warranty), I won't use liquid metal because it's conductive, and I won't put any kind of liquid cooling (even AIO coolers) in my system in case of leaks.

I've used IC diamond on about 5 systems now, the oldest of which is still going strong, no visible marks whatsoever, not even any "staining" and still has best cooling out of any other I have tried... that system is now around 5 years old. I have seen those posts about IC diamond before many times, and the only conclusion I could make from the difference with my own experience with it, is that maybe they got fake maybe, or used it in a way not intended. When I clean my IHS and cooler I always use a lint free microfibre cloth and wipe the surface with a lifting motion to minimize any scratching that could occur. When mounting the cooler I use pea method.

It's up to you what thermal paste you use, just telling you my own experience of using it. I'm using it on my 1700 system right now, dropped the temp by a few degrees, but a few degrees here and there is nothing really, the stock paste will be just fine, as will any other.

 

Thermal Grizzly cryonaut is also supposed to be good, and have that on the way too for some testing.

Its over twice as conductive as the stuff I was once using for my 4790K and GTX 970 (it was an emergency and I'd run out of MX4), so it should be fine.

I know IC Diamond is great stuff.  I'm not debating that.  It's one of the best thermal pastes on the market.  However, it contains actual diamonds.  Rubbing it off can wear away the IHS.  Not enough to really matter of course.  The worst it could do is rub away the label after removing it tons of times.  Like I said, I'm just paranoid. xD

Yeah, have used it many many times and not even 1 bit of "label" is worn at all. The only way a diamond can scratch is by movement, during use in a thermal compound there will be 0% movement, so only times it can scratch would be during application and removal, so if people are careful there should be minimal (if any) scratching of the heatsink or cooler plate. Even my old AMD phenom II 1055t is still going strong with this stuff, very good temps on everything I have applied this too. I only use on my own systems, sometimes test with other pastes, but always go back to IC diamond... well so far anyway, I like to test other compounds to see if they ahve improved, there are some great pastes out there, but I like the thickness/consistency of the IC diamond, it doesn't tend to move once it's on there.
