7600K or 7700K to pair with gtx 1060 6gb

3 minutes ago, ZeusXI said:

why spend, what is it? 230$ right now for a 1060? and just save up now and use the iGPU of the 7700k and then you have 230$ less to spend, and 230$ already saved up for the 1080 TI. volta/vega are coming out soon i think (or whatever they are going to release) and prices will drop, so you never know. we might see a 1080 price drop from the 700$ to 500$, and the 1080 TI might do the same thing. so then you arnt trying to save another 500-700$ and just have to save 200-400$ instead. save money

Lol if you can find a 1060 6GB for $230 I'll buy it

They are at least like $280-300 right now and even normally are at least $250.

After launch RX480 4GBs could be had for $140! Now THAT's a deal

knowing nvidia that should be out by christmas!?

Doubt it. Vega will likely only compete with the 1080 so nVidia will spend extra time milking the 10-series.

thats not the point, a ryzen 1600 is cheaper than any i5 and is much better. i5s are now pegged at 100% usage in a lot of games.

and that matters because? As long as there is no major stuttering its fine i mean 60fps always work with an i5. I didnt promise it would run guaranteed any game at consistent 144fps

more important i would say, those are the most noticible

I agree. This is why an i5 isn't a very good choice.

how doesnt it matter? you have one upgrade route with a 7600k and thats the 7700k, if you get a ryzen 1600, you get much better multi threaded performance, cheaper cpu and a much better upgrade path.  i5s are pretty useless now and especially in newer titles.

1800x is a whole different story, though getting anything better than an i7 7700k is kinda pointless. I'd only go for Ryzen if I was doing streaming a lot

he is only getting a gtx 1060. I have an i5 4690k 4,7ghz and gtx 1080 ti and there is only one game where i cant have 90%+ gpu usage without using DSR and that is BF1 and even without DX12 i am awlays getting more than 60fps. Witcher 3, Titanfall 2, Battlefield 4, DCS World, rainbow six siege all would not run any better on an i7

I wouldn't take advice from anyone who pairs a 1080Ti with an i5. Even a 7700K or 6950X bottlenecks the crap out of it.

most demanding games still dont support more than 4Threads, so investing in an AMD chip for gaming is kind of retarded

clearly you don't know the meaning of that word.

"less advanced in mental, physical, or social development than is usual for one's age"

meaning you are thinking in terms of old, outdated philosophies... such as that 4c/4t is all you need for games. Wake up.

R7 1700 is better value and will last longer than any Intel chip on 1151

Linus is not be all end all, he can also be wrong, ryzen 1600 is better than i5, not really a comparison.

upgrade path better my ass. There are bunch of older flight sims for example that only use up to two threads. fact is that an i5 4690k oc'd to 4,7ghz for me gets me 50% more fps than any Ryzen chip oc'd to 4ghz. The fact that an i5 gives you a tiny amount more fps on games that support 8 threads than a ryzen 5 speaks for itself. Using thread count and not benchmarks for comparison is completely pointless.

Please, don't believe everything that Linus says. Linus claims that an i5 is "all you need for gaming", which is just wrong, because newer games can use 8 threads.

you seriously dont know much about current gen cpus, you have a 4690k with a 1080ti, nice bottleneck i see, hows your fps on bf1? highly bottlenecked due to 100% cpu usage.
