Posting Guidelines - READ BEFORE POSTING

Please use common sense when posting - no advertising of your own or your friends companies, post to second hand sales sites, etc.
 
Share the love by telling people of awesome deals like the steam autumn sale that is currently going on!
 
All topics should be linking to an awesome deal from somewhere on the interwebs - but please don't just link! Include some of the best deals and talk about the sale, maybe even include a screenshot

 

Some basic guidelines that would be nice to see people follow:

• Please keep the titles simple, yet complete with the following when possible ;
• Include the location as a prefix in the title. For example -  {CAN}, {US}, {AU}, [CA,US], [EU], etc,
• Indicate what it is (naming the product or software) along the location and retailers prefix (if necessary),
• Indicate the currency type in the post when possible - CAD, USD, £, €, etc,
• NO links to Ebay or other second hand and/or auction sites (even ones run by "recognized" brands or retailers),
• G2A links are at this stage permitted,
• NO referral links of any type.

 

If you're unsure about the rules, have a look at the current threads for exemples, and if it's still not clear, you can contact a moderator for clarifications.

 

Only members who have previously contacted an Administrator and made prior arrangements can post deals to their own websites or affiliates.

Sorry if it looked like I was spamming some posts. I was merely trying to post deals that were still valid that I had found and linked elsewhere. I thought it would help to build the start of this category too.

Suggestion

 

Can we make an addition to thread guideline that states that the title of the thread must include :

 

1- Country where deal is applicable (if applicable) or WW (worldwide) if not applicable

2- Name of item (with a few specs if possible)

3- Deal price  + shipping cost (if applicable)

4- Source website

 

Example : CAN - Samsung EVO 250 Gb , 160$ + 7.99$ (Newegg.ca)

 

If the thread consists of multiple deals, some title items could be more general.

Can there be some kind of tag on a posts title for the country involved in the deal? As a UK user of the forums its really difficult to quickly see if its a deal applicable to my country. I know that it is not just me who would benefit from such a feature as i know for a fact there are many people from the UK on this site along with others from AU and NZ. Would love this feature!

Secondly, I'd like to see referral/redirect/short url links removed.

Some guidelines are already mentioned but I hope you don't mind if I put my 2 cents in.

 

Title should include:

Country: [uK],[uS],[CA] etc

Product name

Cost with currency icon ($9.99 instead of 9.99)

Retailer

Example: [uS] Generic 8GB RAM $43.99 @ RandomSite

 

Deal contents should include:

Product

Base Cost and shipping cost

Available countries

Retailer

Direct Link to deal (No shortened links)

OPTIONAL: Image

Example: 

 

Product: Generic 8GB RAM

Cost: $43.99 + Free Shipping

Availability: US

Where: RandomSite

Link here

 

For me personally that should be the MINIMUM that should be acceptable.

Although some people already do it, Its nice to have the end date of the sales in the thread titles.

@Slick @WoodenMarker , important suggestions:

 

• make it mandatory to post product name and price in the title (I've seen people post thread titles such as "holy crap, what a deal!" with no other description)
• Country for the deal should be in title (in the format [uS] [CA] [AU] [uK] etc.. )
• A like/dislike or upvote/downvote type of system so that the really HOT deals actually rise to the top of the subsection instead of having some crappy deals and great deals mixed together.
