New Snapdragon Processor to debut with Pixel2

Looks like the new Snapdragon cpu will be debuting with Google's Pixel 2 according to this artice https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/07/23/qualcomm-snapdragon-836-debut-pixel-2/ . According to this article, it looks like the main difference between the 836 and 835 is clock speed.

Qualcomm always launches a new arch around MWC and then they launch a slightly higher clock speed version of it around the time the next version of android launches (SD 810 was an exception tho, but we all know why). I'm not surprised at all.

Notice the EIGHT WATTS of power the 810 draws when only 3 cores are loaded, 4 cores refuses to even load from overheating.

 

Only Apple could keep the 20nm process contained on A8, thanks to a wide design which let them lower frequencies to avoid the leakage issues. It's also probably why they went for a tri core design on A8x rather than a higher clocked design like what they usually do (on A9x, for example).

 

I can personally attest to the horrors of the overheating of the heatdragon 810. My OP2 get's burning hot just from browsing the stupid web.

Really liked the Pixel ( I do not own one but from all the reviews/impressions, unboxings ), but could definetely use a facelift, waterproofing, wireless charging,OIS and maybe a mat-black variant.

My biggest question is who's making the next Pixel device. There's been rumors it'll be LG, which means a definite no go for me.

Ehhh. Yes and no. The 6p was pretty nice. The Pixel has an amazing camera. For a first attempt at a more flagship device I'd say it was a pretty damn good.

The stabilization on the Pixel is better than some phones that have OIS. OIS isn't always king.

I'd assume that they'd stick with HTC from the success of the first Pixel.

Keep in mind, the question of who's making the Pixel isn't like it was with the Nexus. It's not a matter of device design, support, and integration. It's literally just their manufacturing partner, rather than getting their devices made by the usual player, foxconn.

 

I'd much rather see a phone made by LG in their factories, rather than pushed through foxconn and their human rights concerns, even if doing so might shave a few dollars off the devices cost.
