iPhone is Carrier Locked. Need IMMEDIATE HELP!!

TeamLTG

Hello,

I have been brought to repair an iphone 4s (GSM) which has been bought in the uk a couple years ago. The person started the set up but it shows that the SIM is not supported. I think this is a carrier lock but i don't know (neither does the other person) to which carrier it is locked. I have heard of some software (probably illegal) that you download and unlocks the phone for free. I need this unlocked as soon as possible. The IMEI: 013068007397435

Thank You

s i n !

I've had the same problem. Chances are the phone is stolen, if it is, no luck. I can tell you the software probably doesn't work, and the other stuff online also probably doesn't work. Usually phone repair places refuse unlocking any phones cause of the high chance that it's stolen.

so in other terms, you're fucked.

It is not stolen as the person says that a relative bought it in a shop in the uk.

Yes, the person used it as a tablet until they had to reset and now it is stuck.

OP the phone most likely is stolen

LOL, yes.

Just to be sure, is there any way to unlock the phone as it will not continue set up without sim.

4s' don't have proper sim cards, it's some janky built in one. You can't carrier lock a sim card for a device that doesn't have a carrier provided sim.

there are plenty sites out there to check with and see where it is locked too, and plenty places online to paid to get unlocked and the cost will vary depending on the carrier.

http://www.imei.info/

I have checked them. I was told that there was some free version that does the unlock for.. well free.

All iphones except CDMA models have sim trays.

I've actived 4S' before. They do not have carrier sim cards. When actived state side on a cdma network, you use imei only. The internal sim is for gsm/travel. They're such a pain.

Edit: This is only for versions dealt with here, unsure if other models differ much.

software unlocks on the iPhone as fair as I am aware have not been around for a very long time, the way it was done in the past with a jailbreak. at one stage you could buy a special sim adapter to try use as a work around but again not sure those even work anymore.

Follow up question, is there any way to put the same phone in recovery mode with a broken home button? RecBoot and ReiBoot don't work (only iphone 5 and up)
