Good University Laptop?

Tyrone_Jackson

I've seen this deal on an Asus laptop and wonder if it is a great value. This is the link http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/asus-asus-x550ca-15-6-laptop-black-intel-core-i7-3537u-750gb-hdd-8gb-ram-windows-8-x550ca-bh71-cb/10274204.aspx?cmp=fly-13BBnov29-10274204

This laptop will be used for business stuff, general use, and  multimedia use. I will not be gaming by the way. My price range is around $600, I chose this one because it will be on sale soon. Any suggestions would be nice :)

It is not at all a bad notebook, but for that money I think you can find a bit better ones. But still an i7 for that money is not bad at all. And asus is a good brand to.
Maybe it would be better to have a few more usb ports... it all depends on what you want and need.

If all your doing is school work I'd look at one with an i5 and a 7200 rpm drive also I personally hate 1366x768 screens.

like movies, music, videos

You'd probably want a 1600x900 or 1920x1080 display, not 1366x768.

Still 1366x768 ;) But if you can deal with it then go ahead :) It seems like a good pc for the price.

Hp Envy's are nice. This one has an A8 and a 6GBs of RAM. Change the display to 1080p and change 750GB to 1TB of storage under 'Customize & Buy' and it is $580.

Ewwww Acer... Anyway, it will get the job done, but it is extremely underpowered. 500GB will not last you with movies, videos, music, documents, presentations and a game or two (c'mon you know you will eventually get counter strike).

For the love of god get anything but a mac. If you want to go epic resolution ultrabooks, the Sony Vaio Flips are awesome when they are decked out. Also, $600 is not the same as $2.6K.
