I never said spend $300 on a DAC. Don't spend more than $150 on a DAC. However I would pair an AMP up to $500 with those. Once you go above $500 then you don't get much benefit.  But if you want to be technical the MSRP on the 6XXs is $500

Yeah I ordered them in June and they won't be here till after December 18th. If you buy them now you probably won't have them till March 2018

Well if you live outside the U.S. I would avoid Massrop. But the reason this one is taking so long is because it takes a long time to source the parts, build, and driver match 21,000 pairs of headphones.

but why massdrop? why not just pick smth from amazon?

Because the 6XXs are exclusive to Massdrop. But what they are is Sennheiser HD 650s with a blue instead of grey paint job. If you want them faster buy HD 650s, but they will cost you more.

yeah, prices are much higher, will the headphones be for sale for a while?

The 6XXs will only be for sale for 8 more days. Then you won'y be able to buy them at all until they do another run probably next year sometime.

Only this one linked which is the PC37X. The 598s, 6XXs, and 650s plus whatever else was mentioned do not have a mic

On the Pc37X it’s ok. But no headset mic will ever come close to something like a Yeti or AT220
