No HD 800 is overpriced. Get like Some Ether Flow Cs, or HE 1000s

It is overpriced but it's better by like a little bit.

No, not really. HD598 sounds like 558 and 518, very much considered low/mid fi.

HD600 can be considered hi-fi, though many now consider it mid-fi.

I have not heard the HD600, but I have the H650, very much better than 598's I tried at a store.

nice mic like At2020

For Volcal mics I kinda don't like the At2020 as it kind of adds unnecessary warmth to the mid.I would reccomed a 57/58

Yeah that is a good setup, but he will need to get a DAC and AMP to run HD 6XXs. 300 ohm headphones cannot be run well off of onboard sound.

You can run them off the audio interface that you have to plug the MIC in

600s have a much closer sound stage than the 650s. A lot of people would say that the 600s sound more like a closed headphones, whiles the 650s/6XX sounds more like a traditional open headphone

No the 2i2 doesn't have the power to push HD 6XXs. I was just watching a review of the 2i2 30min ago because someone recommended it to me as a DAC and the guy had HD 600s, and the thing doesn't have the power to run them

I use my LCD-2s for just about anything. Rather nice.

They are up there. 300ohm is harder to push than you'd think. But still, the 2i2 isn't powerful enough
