Building a cheap computer for a friend with low budget

Hi all,

 

I'm building a cheap computer for my friend with a low budget. I already own an i5-2400 and a micro-atx motherboard for it, so I'm planning to just stick with this. I'm hoping to spend at max $450, or close to that. Will this hold up in modern games? I know PU:BG is very unoptimized, but will he be able to play it at minimum settings?

so worse cooler for double the ram? and your SSD is more expensive than his for no really difference

and swaped cases and PSU for close match saving a couple bucks.

 

To OP: i think either way it'll be pretty good for the intended objective. PUBG has trouble running on much better machines but at 1050Ti gets a solid "good enough" badge

WD Blue is based on the SanDisk X-series platform, instead of the inferior Z-series platform the SSDPLUS is based on. It's faster, rated for longer, and better quality. 

 

M9i is as good as the 212 EVO. 

 

CXM is better than S12II for cheaper, and offers nicer cables and some modularity to boot. 

 

Was trying to find a 470 and fit that into the budget but miners.

yeah i wasn't really criticizing the cooler he's not overclocking anyway so if he had a stock cooler he'd be fine. but a sata 3 (6GB/s) SSD is worth another the difference of 100MB/s read/write doesn't really matter, it's miles above an HDD. I would have taken the cheapest valid option (most often the Adata 240GB)

I'd usually recommend an Adata unit, but the Blue was the best SSD there under $90.
