I'm sure it's just that english isn't their first language. I can mostly understand what people are trying to say however, I haven't really been on the forum that much recently so I wouldn't really know too much about the topic. Think of it as some peoples way of becoming fluent in a language, maybe just try and be helpful if they use the wrong your/you're or their/they're for example just mention it but don't make it the main topic and try and shoot them down if you understand what I'm trying to say. I wish I could do the same with German which I'm trying to learn at the moment but I would be scared to even try it at all without sounding like an idiot. Half the time forums that I want to participate in are in english anyways.

Yes, I am triggered right now. I hate when people type like drunks. Please don't think I'm weird since I made a recent thread that got a LOT of hate for asking an (apparently) sensitive/stupid question.

 

 

You cant change the way people write and I honestly think the grammar test would make no difference, Once can simply look it up online and use a grammar checker. I wouldn't mind writing the grammar test correctñy and then using incorrect spelling and grammar just beacuse its faster and more convenient

I speak 5 languages and tbh sometimes I make errors too, I guess some tools like grammarly should be suggested to these user as a recommendation when signing up.

I'm going to let those that are in charge of the forum feature give a full answer but as @Princess Cadence said, some of our users aren't completely fluent in English and that could prevent them getting help.

 

Also, if you can't stand people that write like this, simply move on and don't reply (you know you're not obligated to help  ).

There are several specifications for the English language. I studied science so my preference is APA. For example here you have used a number character where you should have spelt out "one". This is not pleasant to my eyes. Number characters are for quantifying, not figures of speech.

People ask crap questions. I actually trolled someone the other day because their post was just so bad.

They do not use paragraphs and they write in ways that cause me a headache when I try to read them.

All you can really do is ignore them. It is an written rule that if you ask stupid questions you will get stupid answers. If you cannot communicate effectively you will get trolled, cofefe style.

I can understand bad language from anyone from country which don't have English as official language. They have actual reason why learning it isn't priority. And yet worst language I see here comes from native speakers, and even worse, most are still in school or just off one.

1. Takes thread completely off rails.
2. Makes just comment about others grammar and nothing else.
3. Posts without helping at all just because they don't bother reading question or there are too many questions.

True, there should be a cooldown that isn't related to the warning points for less harmful behavior yet completely useless to provide help to an honest OP.
 

A lot of people will add nothing but those generic picks solely to content farm.

I feel you, bruh, but I think you should take issue more with sentence structure rather than all out grammar. There's a reason why punctuation exists. It annoys some people to no end, sure, but it makes text incredibly easier to read IMO. Taking a second to structure your sentence, even if your grammar is abysmal, gives everyone the impression - I think - that you took some time to describe the issue, structured it so it's legible, and makes it easier for people to help you.

Just dropping a post asking whether I should be concerned about the high-pitched noise coming from my Graphics Card. I started hearing it on a few loading screens, and I sometimes hear a low pitched hum when I'm playing CS:GO. It's not really an issue when my case fans are spinning faster, but it can get really annoying if they aren't. Is there something wrong with my Graphics card? Should I look at an RMA?

I'm not sure where you draw the limits on this though. It's a new era where children are growing up with social media as a way to communicate. I sometimes have to phone my niece to translate messages that were sent to me. They're gibberish to me, but perfectly understandable to her.

I'd also like to point out that some people(like me) did not do well in English classes, but excelled in others. Trying to diagram a sentence was of absolutely no interest to me, and I found it to be very confusing. Trying to figure out how to use gears to make a shaft turn at a different speed was fascinating, and simple to understand. I don't think that qualifies me as stupid(I maintained a 4.5 grade average in college), it's just how my brain works.

I apologize for my poor punctuation, etc. It's not my intention to annoy, or trigger anyone. Oh wait, "trigger" should now not be allowed either.

How about GPU? Do we need to spell out Graphics Processing Unit? Again, where do you draw the line?

I hate this excuse. EVEN MY TEACHERS USE IT. They say that you don't need to use proper grammar on the Internet, or when you're "texting your buddies". Also, acronyms are fine, I don't mind those (to a point).

Oh lol that's a rule for me. I have stopped texting friends because they wouldn't write properly. My best ones would change and make a gigantic effort to write properly for me.
