ddr3 running at 1600 2x8gig is the best you can get/use. Check local prices for whatever fits into your budget.

can't find any 8 gig stick under $50 on amazon (not to mention 2x8 kits).

You're gonna need a bigger budget for 2x8.

Best you can get within budget is a 4 gig stick

https://www.amazon.com/Ballistix-Single-PC3-12800-240-Pin-BLS4G3D169DS3/dp/B00CWR3HW2/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1500632213&sr=1-2&keywords=1600%2Bddr3%2B8gb&refinements=p_n_feature_twenty_browse-bin%3A9729700011%2Cp_36%3A1253504011%2Cp_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A2253866011%2Cp_n_feature_five_browse-bin%3A673263011&th=1

seems to be the only one under $50 o.O

ASAP means going to your local computer store and buying whatever your pc's specifications say.

Or if anything, take in a stick already installed.
