I killed my micro SD card. Can anyone resurrect it?

Hi, I flashed a raspbian os to my sd card, but I don't use it in my raspi anymore so I want to use it again as a 16 gb sd card. Sadly I can only format it to 5.71 GB (that is a random number I guess). Can you help me?

update: I can't even format it to 5.71 GB... The formatter program ("SD card formatter" or "Windows Explorer") fails everytime I try.

use CMD to check if it's alive and then format it through that. guide here

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-clean-and-format-storage-drive-using-diskpart-windows-10

that will wipe all data off the SD card, so if there is any information on it you will lose it, but it will give you the full 16GB again (minus whats needed for the file library thingy etc.)

you might also be able to partition it in disk manager, but if not, the above method should work

Have you tried to perform a sudden temporary interrupt of the electricity flow to your computational device followed by a re-initialization procedure of the central processing unit and associated components?

there is a limit to how much you can flash an sd before it dies. it does not have wear leveling firmware that ssd has. your description does not indicate the drive is dead. try boot computer without sd card inserted. disable automatic mounting of card. hot plugging the card after boot should hopefully resolve your inability to partition the disk

yea that is also true, but CMD looks cooler, especially if you do it in a public place as people look at you like your trying to hack into somewhere or something. :P

Use Rufus to burn freeDOS to it and then format it in windows. Works every time for me

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
