PSU for FX 6300 and GTX 770

What's the optimal wattage for a PSU powering an FX 6300 PSU and an MSI TwinFrozr GTX 770 (dual 8 pins)?Asking for @Billy_Mays, since his 770 keeps crashing under load. I think he only has a 450W PSU.

Try putting the parts into a PCPartPicker build. It shows the wattage in the top right.

Looking around, seems like you should be good with a 550W PSU. I'd say to go for a SeaSonic M12II or Corsair CXM.

Then I'd say it's defo a power problem or some other issue with your GPU. Do you have any money to spare to get a new PSU?

I spent most of my money just a little bit ago and I can't cancel what I ordered so I really can't game that much and my mobo is an OEM board

Rats. This seems the cheapest you can go (it's 620W, but the cheapest "good" PSU): https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/nB3RsY/seasonic-power-supply-s12ii620bronze. It's 75 snow pesos though.

Got a rig with a Q6600 @ 3.35GHZ with a GTX 680 using molex connections, runs fine with my 550W PSU. Antec Truequiet 550W

@Billy_Mays, you could try using one molex cable with an adapter, and see if that can feed it more power. Otherwise you'll need a better PSU. Are there any old PCs you could pull one from?

I have an older OEM PSU rated for 300w and it's from 2011 and the other one I have I wouldn't trust it with really cheap stuff (it's from about 2003)

Aha! You could do the 'ole double PSU and hook that up to the GPU. You'll have to figure out what order to run on the GPU and then computer though.

no its not especially good. get something low end from Seasonic, like the S12II 520

Oh. Did they say it could actually break your GPU? Because it isn't working anyways, so unless it'll cause damage, it's worth a shot.

Molex is sketchy, i'm not putting much load besides the Q6600 and the GTX 680 anyway.

there is even a 620W model if you somehow feel the need. the S12II is quite a bit better then the EVGA B series AFAIK

Nope they didn't and I would prefer to have a modular PSU to keep the cable clutter down

Then go for a SeaSonic M12II or Corsair CXM series PSU. I've got a CX450M (only an i5 and 1050 Ti though),and it's pretty good. It's semi-modular, but the only cables that don't come off are the mobo and CPU power cables. So it's pretty tidy, since the only extra cable I needed was a SATA cable.
