1080p 144hz or 1440p 60hz

Go to solution Solved by Princess Luna,

Why not both?

29UM68-P = 2560x1080p at 80hz. (IPS)

Hi,

I'm ready to order the parts for my build but don't know what monitor to get. I decided I would either get a 1080p 144hz or a 1440p 60hz since I cant afford a 1440p 144hz. IPS would be great but not necessary since I will be playing some fps games.  Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My budget is $350

Asus - VG248QE 24.0 - This is a 1080p monitor I was looking at

I haven't found a 1440p monitor yet so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Vg248qe is no longer the best budget 144hz, if you care about panel quality the Samsung cfg70 or the xg2401 has the best tn panel, and VA. If not then the mg248q is the newer variant of the vg248

Xf240h is also a good budget panel

not sure how well ryzen performs at lower res and higher FPS, i know the 7700k is pretty much the best way to drive high refresh rates. I think Ryzen is better with high res and lower FPS

1440p is great for desktop due to the extra screen real estate... it is miles better than 1080p.

144Hz is great for any games if you can push that FPS.

It is hard to decide on what you should go for.

This is how 1440p vs 1080p looks like on desktop:

Ryzen will be fine for that. i7 7700k just does a better job of pushing high FPS.

I see that you have that monitor. Have you had any issues with it?
