Very hard to decide about new monitor.

Hello I am new to this forum and sorry for my bad English as it is not my native language but I will try to clarify thing as best as I can. I need some help as I can't really decide about new monitor.

Current monitor = 27" Crossover 2763AMG 2560x1440 AH-IPS 60Hz no variable refresh rate. (can do 120Hz but frame skipping).

I already have some experience about 4K and 5K via DSR.

I have both 980 Ti and 390X right now and may upgrading to GTX 2070 / 2080 later.

I am hardcore 24/7 overclocker that push CPU / RAM / GPU to the very limit for real world usage (for example I overclock my 16GB TridentZ 3600Mhz to 4167Mhz 1400% HCI Memtest stable and tightening all timings and all sub-timings and touching even signal slopes / on-die termination for maybe 0.01% better performance). So monitor overclock is not an issue for me.

I will buy monitor in the next 3-4 month but I want info as much as possible.

Games that I mainly played.

1.Sims 3 (Simulation) I play several thousands hours (probably nearly 10,000 hours ) since mid 2010. My wife also play it. And we both continue play it since Sims 4 suck. Don't require powerful graphics card (GTX 1050 / RX 460 for max setting WQHD , GTX 1060 3GB / RX 470 for max 4K / GTX 980 Ti for max 5K )

2.Totalwar series (Turn Base Strategy + Real Time Tactical) I play several thousands hours since mid 2013. Require seriously powerful graphics card (GTX 980 Ti for max but no AA at WQHD , I think 1080 Ti for max no AA 4K and no gpu available for max 5K since this series is getting seriously CPU bottleneck so SLI / CF is out of question).

3.Cities Skylines (Simulation) heavily modded. I play several hundreds hours since early 2015 and sometimes my wife also play it. Don't require powerful graphics card as CPU will get bottleneck first. HD 7870 perform the same as GTX 980 Ti at WQHD. (GTX 1050 / RX 460 for max setting WQHD , GTX 1060 3GB / RX 470 for max 4K / GTX 980 Ti for max 5K )

4.Civilization series (Turn Base Strategy) I play several hundreds hours since late 2016. Require moderately powerful graphics card (GTX 1060 / RX-480 for max WQHD , GTX 1080 for max 4K and maybe 1080 Ti with some lower setting for 5K).

Games that I play sometimes

1.GTA V didn't touch much after finish story mode but it is a good game anyways and worth replay.

2.Projects Cars

So basically I have motion sickness and can't play any first person shooter games. Third person shooter is playable in some games like ACU (already finishing story mode). And I don't have problem about racing games.

So what is the most important for me ? resolution / PPI or refresh rate or variable refresh rate or some more field of view ?

Here is what I am considering. All of this price is second hand since I want to save some money and I can ask the seller to test dead pixel before purchase. New monitor only able to RMA if it have more than 5 dead pixels which is suck in my opinion. Does warranty policy in your country act the same as me ?

I prefer IPS > VA > TN

1.Acer XB270HU = since XB271HU and newer models is not available in my country and PG279Q is f*cking wallet rip-off price in my country so this is the only choice. New one is not available anymore (was 732$). Second hand cost around 530$.

Pros = 144Hz refresh rate / G-Sync / ULMB for racing games / not so expensive.

Cons = 27" and 2560x1440 is the same as I already used for 3 years.

2.Acer X34 = new one cost 1073$ second hand cost around 880$. again ASUS counterpart is wallet rip off price in my country. In fact every ASUS ROG products is overprice compare to your newegg/amazon.

Pros = 100Hz refresh rate / G-Sync / 34" / ultrawide for better field of view.

Cons = expensive / lack of ULMB / Sims 3 may not properly support.

3.Acer XB281HK = new one cost 673$ second hand cost around 500$+.

Pros = 4K / G-Sync / acceptable price

Cons = 60Hz / TN... / Sims 3 is the only games that UI doesn't upscaling

it is funny that 4K IPS G-Sync is not available here so...

4.LG 27UD58-B = new one cost 458$ second hand should be around 350$.

Pros = 4K / Free-Sync / IPS / cheapest option.

Cons = 60Hz / Free-Sync need AMD GPU and AMD GPU always lag behind Nvidia. VEGA as fast as 1080 for 15 months late and consume much more power / Sims 3 is the only games that UI doesn't upscaling.

5.Dell UP2715K = new one cost 1911$ second hand cost just 764$.

Pros = 5K / glorious 217.57 PPI / price is not so expensive for 5K monitor.

Cons = Worry about input lag and ghosting / 60Hz / no variable refresh rate / Sims 3 is the only games that UI doesn't upscaling.

Waht is your opinion ? And do you think that high refresh rate / G-Sync / ULMB can cure motion sickness ?

In all seriousness, I've heard alot of nice things about the Acer XB270HU.

1440p is basically the sweetspot for gaming atm, getting 144hz AND IPS at the same time is pretty fantastic.

The only con about it as far as I know is that SOME experienced blacklight bleed from it, but I think that's something you can get on any IPS monitor.

Can't really say anything about the rest.

I personally don't believe in 4K gaming just yes since some of your everyday titles aren't optimized for it, scaling just sucks.

But when it works it's glorious, I wont say anything about that.

For a good 4K experience in gaming you'll need at least a 1080ti/Titan X Pascal/1080 SLI
