Go ahead :)

Ryzen 7 1700, same build, different CPU:

Intel Core i7 7700k and different motherboard, otherwise same build:

Here you go :)

Hi there guys ! I just recently started looking into pc gaming and at first was skeptical.. I leaned toward laptop gaming since I'm a student and figured hey why not just go with a laptop however as I did more research I took an interest ti desktop gaming as it would be a alot cheaper and overall a better experience of course sacrificing portability but I'm fine with that. NOW enough with the little story, I need your guys advice since I'm inexperienced in this subject im looking for a  really solid and good pc build. My budget is 1700 could go to 1800 but that's the max I would like it to include the monitor keyboard mouse and  the pc system :) Thank you

Edit: sorry forgot to mention if the monitor could be one that's 24' or 27' and has 144hz ! Wouldn't mind upping the budget by another 100

I think Colin's build is great. You can switch around the monitor to a conventional aspect 16:9 if you really hate pillarboxing, or something with a higher refresh rate if you decide you want to play CS:GO or something quick-spirited.

Somewhat like Colin's build but I stepped down on the Ryzen 7 to a Ryzen 5, got you an aircooler with the same performance for less money, changed the keyboard and mouse for something with more quality to it and lastly a 16:9 monitor at 1440p! :)

Sounds good!

Check out my build just now.

Colin's build is great, but for purely gaming I think a Ryzen 7 is a bit out of place and slightly overkill.

Instead of an ultrawide monitor I went with a 1440p, which IMO is super sweet for gaming. Quoting some poeple I've met here they call it "The sweetspot of gaming".

I gave you a proper mechanical RGB keyboard with a matching RGB mouse from the same brand so you can flip around in the settings to make them match even more from the same software.

Alright that's an easy fix.

So if I got that correctly you want 1440p at 144Hz?

Going from 1080p 144Hz or 1440p 60Hz to 1440p 1440Hz will step up the price quite a bit.

I can edit my original build to add a monitor like that. Should I?

The main differences that I ended up with, compared to Colin's, are that I got 1070 and a different monitor, but got a mechanical keyboard, and imo better mouse.

The rest is mostly miscellaneous differences. Note that I was $35 away from a 1080.

Also note that this build is assuming you're going to overclock your CPU

Edit: If you want a 1440p 144 Hz 27" monitor instead, this one is the cheapest https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mNBrxr/aoc-ag271qx-270-2560x1440-144hz-monitor-ag271qx

I'm sorry but it doesn't seem like it's possible to hold that budget.

Most 1440p 144Hz monitors are around $550 and up..

If you prefer framerate over resolution I can suggest getting a 1080p 144Hz IPS monitor! THat'll probably fit your budget better :)

My personal preferation is Refreshrate>Resolution

So I'd personally pick 1080p 144Hz over 1440p 60hz.

Right now for gaming Ryzen 5 beats the i5's from intel.

The Ryzen 7 loses to Intels i7 7700k if your intention is to just game.

How much will my budget go up if I added in an Intel 7?
