Buying used mining equipment

Is it safe to buy a used graphics card from someone that used it for bit coin mining? What are the dangers of using this used equipment if that is the case? Or is used only for gaming the better way to buy equipment?

TFW you remove your old RAM and say, "Damn, those were some good memories."

I just figured since mining GPUs typically run at 100% load all the time I thought they wore down rather quickly.

Oh dear...so what you're saying is. Avoid any and all GPUs that have been used in mining? What if it has only been used for a week or two to lets say a month?

I think I'll just avoid them then. Not worth putting down an investment just for it to die.

Yeah just don't buy them.

Some people lie though, because they know people will pay less or not buy cards that have been used for mining.

Maybe if it's a newer card, but I would be skeptical. How would you really know it hasn't been running pinned at 100% usage at over 80 degree's C 24/7 next to 5 other cards gasping for colder air?
