we have no clue about Volta, we dont have any preformance numbers or even leeks. it might be a total flop for all we know. the R9 Fury is still a competative card and hasent been "turned into a potato" in any way what so ever.

most of their recent GPU launches did have acceptable launch drivers. Hawai, Fiji, Polaris...

They just got faster later.

if you arent close(within 10%) to how good your product will preform at its max on launch drivers then the drivers arent done yet. AMD have had problems with FIji, didnt preform ok at launch, Polaris got a massive preformance boost with re:live and pulled too much power from the PCIe slot at launch and Ryzen had almost no memory support and shitty auto timings. i will never expect AMD to launch anything with good drivers and i dont think other people should either to be honest.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

The AMD & Voltage thing is still a weird topic. I've yet to hear of someone that hasn't been able to undervolt Polaris at least a fairly good chunk. Obviously, some will undervolt better (I've heard of 40% down while still getting a 15% OC, which is nuts).

Though it's not like the Vega is lining up to be that much thirstier of a card than the comparable Nvidia products. Probably around 20-30% more power draw at the same Gaming performance.  Which is about right with current Polaris offerings. If you stuff a massive OC on a 1080 Ti, you'll get some nutty numbers as well. Give Nvidia credit for the brilliant uArch they have.

the 1080TI is actiually not that bad, the 980TI however is another story lol.

Has AMD launched anything with acceptable launch drivers in the last 10 years? Not as far as I know. Yes it's not good now but we KNOW there are shit drivers on it so it will probably get better. Ryzen had known RAM issues at launch, the Fury preformed like shit at launch and so on... That response is just because we know AMD dosent launch with good drivers. That dosent make it worth it to buy the product now though.

Referring to Vega not fury. Either way fury and the 1070 will be a potato when the next gen of cards come out. Just like the 970's are potato's now. My mistake I should have specified. (Also sorry for my slight attitude had to deal with really aggravating shit and had to wake up super early today)

See my edit. Also eh still a potato to me. Won't matter much when next gen comes out though which is what my main point was. Next gen being not to far away I'm a bit disappointed with this Vega GPU.

Vega is still a 1080 almost. The 970 still holds on still, I use one. Your potato is something more powerful then a decent 1080p card it seems.

Yeah. If you run it at stock. All the Maxwell cards were underclocked like a mofo. I think it only boosts to like 1350 stock? They easily go higher than that.

I was not able to go above 1420Mhz only because of poor air cooler that EVGA implemented for that card. My memory is the worst one you can get too... not even touching it.

I'm pretty sure, yea. I have a g10 kraken + h55 corsair... but guess what? Placement of 2x6 pin and VRM's doesn't allow me to install it... GJ EVGA! (I still love them tho) :)

To be fair, your bad experience is not a given for everyone. Mine stays at solid stable 1400-1420 at 80C... I don't allow it to stay at that temp tho. for me 75 is max comfortable temp for GPU. Let me tell you... this fans are loud xD

970 isn't broke, overclocking isn't a guarantee. It ain't technically broken.

As for AMD cards being shitty overclockers that's just not true. They may not be as good as NVIDIA but the sapphire top cards are usually pretty good. Also 50-100mhz is what my 970 would do when I could overclock it lol

Mine stays at solid 1400-1420 at 80C... I don't allow it to stay at that temp tho. for me 75 is max comfortable temp for GPU. Let me tell you... this fans are loud xD

The G1 cooler was unbearable at anything beyond 40%, not that I cared tho. Didn't keep the card especially cool anyway

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

No wonder AMD wanted to wait until after summer to launch Vega. Anyone want to bet it will pull ahead of the 1080 in a couple years.

AMD cards are notorious for being fucking horrible overclockers. They get maybe 50-100MHz over stock.

Uh. Dude. Your 970 might be broken.

What amd cards have you been overclocking son? Potatos?

Outside of the fury X thats pretty much an outright lie.

I had 4 EVGA 970 in my home for a while... 3 SC models and one"regular".

All were doing 1400-1450 no problems. Two that had samsung memory even did 8000 on memory no sweat.

I didn't own a lot of AMD cards, but my 7870 was pretty good to OC. If I recall correctly I could get to 7950 stock levels of performance.

I could get 400mhz extra on my memory when it worked but that was it, still ran quite slow for a 970.

Nope, it's more like a rx470.

Vega is still a 1080 almost. The 970 still holds on still, I use one. Your potato is something more powerful then a decent 1080p card it seems.

Nah I own a 1080ti I sold my 1060 6gb months ago. No potato's here. Vega should be competing with the 1080ti not a 1080. Expected more and like fury it couldn't compete and I wanted them to make Nvidia sweat but it's a bit meh that it needs to draw that much power and liquid cooling to compete with a 1080.

Other Stuffs: Red sleeved cables, White LED lighting 2 noctua fans on cpu cooler and Be Quiet PWM fans on case.
